The Heartstopper series!

Nick and Charlie live pretty average lives. Nick likes to play rugby, hang out with his mates, and loves his dog, Nellie. Charlie likes playing the drums, watching movies with friends, and he also likes … Nick. Poor Charlie, he can never seem to catch a break! First, he was bullied after being outed as gay, then he had one pathetic excuse for a boyfriend, and now he's crushing on the straightest person he's ever seen! However, when the two form an unlikely friendship, Nick watches his world turn upside down. This series follows the pairs journey through love, coming out, friendship, mental health and discovering who you are.

This has to be my favourite series of books EVER! People may think because it's a graphic novel, that it's immature or for lazy readers. Well, THEY ARE WRONG! The emotional rollercoaster these characters go on is so thrilling, while also incredibly relatable. I just want to mention the amount of representation in this book, as well. We have characters that are: gay, lesbian, trans, straight, bisexual and more! It is such an uplifting book for those who are part of the LGBTQ+ community, or just even have friends who are a part of it. Further on in the series, the book does go through one of the characters battle with mental health. Let's be honest here: I cried reading the books and watching the TV show. Overall, an amazing read, I would recommend this series (and the TV show!) to every person I come across. It is just such a comforting book for anyone, especially for those going through a tough or confusing time in life.

Warning: Throughout the series there are mentions of homophobia and discrimination towards the LGBTQ+ community. There are also mentions of mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and self-harm. Please be wary if you are uncomfortable with these topics. In one of the later books, there are some intimate scenes, but not much is shown. Personally, I was okay with those bits, but not everyone will be.
