The Familiars!

The Familiars is a fantasy book about magic and sorcery. It tells the tale of 3 familiars- a familiar is a magical animal that helps a wizard or witch and accompanies them everywhere-  except one of them isn't  fantastical, no Aldwyn is a regular alley cat! Born on the old streets of Bridgetower, it's every man, well cat, for themselves. However, when he is hunted down by an infamous bounty hunter, he stumbles into a familiars shop and is mistaken as one! Soon, he is take away to a brilliant new life, but he still has to pretend and act his way through the questions of the other familiars. It barely lasts a day before something terrible happens, much to his dismay. The supposedly pure-hearted queen Loranella, captures the three familiars loyals and kills their mentor, thankfully, just before the great wizard dies, he casts a protection spell on the kids. As the children are taken away, the realisation that the spell will only last for a day hits the animal trio as they plan their rescue. Will Aldwyn be discovered?  Will they rescue their loyals? Or will they all perish without their companions?

I love this book, from descriptive writing to an exhilarating plot, I just could not put it down. I love the clever twists in the story and the imagination put into the characters and magical element is very entertaining. The story is also quite funny at some points too, as well as scary, exciting, and sad. With the mystery of Aldwyn's past combined with the adventure of a lifetime, I would 100% recommend this book!

Recommended Age Rating: The internet says all ages so I would go about 7/8- 14
