The Dinner Lady Detectives!

The Dinner Lady Detectives is a book by Hannah Hendy about two main characters: Margery and Clementine. The pair are in love and work as dinner ladies at the local school. There is a rather strange staff there: Mean Mrs Smith, Smart Mr Barrow, Interior Design Enthusiast Ceri Ann and others. And then, there is Caroline, the kitchen manager. The reason I didn't mention her is because she is dead. Her body was found in a freezer and the police have noted it as a mere accident. However, Clementine doesn't agree, not at all. But, as they begin to investigate unusual occurrences happen such as hidden notes and attempted murder, on them! Will they uncover the truth in time, or be the killers (if there is one) next victims?!
There is a lot to unpack here! This book does have some more adult language which will have different reactions depending on the person who is reading. Personally I was fine with it, but my parents were concerned. In the end, they were comfortable with me reading it because there were minor words such as Christ and then one which may be considered as a swear but is overall fine. It should be allowed for most 12+ but most likely suitable for under. I like Hannah Hendy's style despite my criticism of it. It is rather slow but incredibly descriptive- which I love. There are many plot-twists which is great for the reader and the book speeds up more towards the end. A calming yet fantastic read!
Recommended Age Rating: This depends, online it says 18+, but I read it when I was 11. I think the most suitable age to be reading is double digits, more precisely teens at least, give or take a few years. It is up to the parents but I promise you, it is not as inappropriate as I have implied, most children should be fine.
